Our Story
Certified Master Well Driller, Dave Kelly, has spent 47 years working at Jones Well Drilling. The company was founded in Harford County in 1965 by the late Earl Jones. Dave was the first employee, the Vice President, and the Operations Manager for 23 years prior to becoming the owner.
After retiring from 13 years as President of the Maryland-Delaware Water Well Association, Dave was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to The Maryland State Board of Well Drillers to serve a two year term. He has been re-appointed and continues to serve in this role. In this role, he upholds the regulations and standards of the well drilling industry in Maryland.
As former President of the Maryland-Delaware Water Well Association, he is especially proud of being involved in the efforts of that organization and their lobbyist which led to a bill signing in Annapolis, MD in May of 2012. That law made Maryland the first state in the nation to approve geothermal heating and cooling systems eligibility for Renewable Energy Credits.
Nationally, Dave Kelly is an active volunteer in the drilling industry. Dave has served as the President of the Board of Directors of the South Atlantic Water Well Jubilee and is still a Board Member and active participant in the Jubilee. The Jubilee is the second largest annual event and trade show for the well drilling industry in the United States. The ten states who make up the Jubilee strive to provide educational opportunities, scholarship awards, and programs to showcase the latest developments of suppliers and manufacturers in the industry.
In 2011, Dave was recognized for his outstanding volunteer involvement on behalf of the well drilling industry at the National Ground Water Association in Las Vegas where he received the Standard Bearer Award.
